South London

South London encompasses a large area comprised of diverse, multicultural boroughs of London containing regions made up of many communities, bustling town centres and impressive green space.

Towards the southwest, we see areas such as Richmond, Kew and Kingston upon Thames, known for its impressive green space of Richmond Park and Kew Gardens, listed buildings throughout the area and restaurants and cafes along the river. Boasting many excellent schools it is a popular place for couples and families. Putney and Wimbledon Commons is another expansive area of woodland, which may make you forget you are in one of the largest cities in the world. Putney Embankment is famous as the starting point of the annual University boat race in the summer, where crowds gather to cheer from the riverbank and decks of restaurants as boats race towards Chiswick bridge. You could also stretch further south towards Kingston or east to New Malden for a completely different vibe with lively communities and quiet residential neighbourhoods.

Commonly referred to as the Southbank, around here you will find the Tate Modern and Design Museum, a range of bars, restaurants and shops that line the south of the river. The ever-increasing popularity of the Borough Market speaks volumes for the explosion of culinary interest taking hold in the south of London. Foodies from all over the city and beyond come to enjoy the unique experience with a twist of creativity and a sprinkle of inspiration.

Towards the south, areas around Dulwich, Forest Hill and Crystal Palace boast much green space. You can find a network of hills and parks connected by footpaths for a relaxing walk, perhaps to Blackheath or Telegraph hill where you can get one of the best views of London. Around here, you can find neighbourhoods with different characters from urban to village vibes. Every neighbourhood has its own quirk making property searching in the area particularly interesting. Property prices are, in comparison, lower than other parts of London making this a desirable area for young Londoners to call home.

Further southeast, we have areas such as Bermondsey, Kennington, Canada Water and Greenwich, a world heritage site with stunning architecture which stands to tell about the history of London to this day. Much development has taken place by the riverfront, where we see modern apartment blocks built over the decades, attracting residents from all over London to the likes of Battersea, Vauxhall, Bermondsey through to Canada Water. If the suburban charm is what you are looking for, take a little stretch to areas such as Bromley and Hayes for excellent schools and detached/semi-detached houses whilst still being in good reach of the City.
